The Midyear Reset: 7 Ways to Realign Your Goals and Energy This Summer

The first half of the year has been quite eventful for me, and while summer is the season of slower mornings, longer evenings, and sunshine that seems to nudge us toward stillness, my summer has started with a bang. A house selling, house buying, bang that is. We all know that moving is often an exciting yet stressful life event. As I type this, I am waiting for the moving trucks to arrive. But soon we’ll be settled, and as I slip into my new normal, I’ll be thinking about realigning as well as looking forward to what the remainder of the year has in store for me.

Summer is the perfect halfway point—a natural invitation to pause, breathe, and ask: Is the life I’m creating still aligned with who I’m becoming?

If you started the year with big intentions, you’re not alone. But midyear is where clarity meets grace. It’s not about catching up—it’s about realigning. Below are 7 powerful ways to gently reset your mindset, goals, and energy this summer.

1. Reflect Without Judgment

Before you shift, reflect. Take 30 minutes to journal or sit with this question: What’s been working—and what hasn’t?

The key here is compassion. You’re not tallying failures, you’re gathering data. Reflecting with softness helps you make wise, soul-aligned shifts instead of reactive ones.

2. Rewrite the Rules

Let go of goals that no longer resonate. Maybe January-you wanted to run a half marathon, but summer-you craves more walks in nature and rest. That’s growth.

Releasing old expectations creates space for new, more aligned energy to enter. You get to change your mind—permission granted.

3. Embrace Micro-Changes

Small shifts create momentum. Maybe it’s 10 extra minutes of meditation in the morning or closing your laptop by 6 p.m.

The summer reset isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing less, better. Start with one micro-change this week and build from there.

4. Say No, to Reclaim Your Yes

Overcommitting is the fastest way to burnout. Use summer as your season of intentional “no.”

Say no to plans that drain you. No to habits that numb you. No to the pressure to be constantly productive. Every “no” makes space for your truest “yes.”

5. Create a Summer Self-Care Ritual

Whether it’s a weekly solo coffee date, sunrise walks, or switching off your phone every Sunday afternoon—rituals anchor you.

Make it seasonal and sensory: light a coconut candle, sip iced mint tea, journal outside. Let your nervous system know it’s safe to slow down.

6. Reignite Your Creativity with a Digital Declutter

Creativity thrives in space. Clear out your inbox, delete apps that don’t serve you, and unfollow accounts that make you feel “less than.”

Give your brain and spirit a little breathing room. Less input = more inspiration.

7. Visualize Your Fall—From a Place of Peace, Not Pressure

Instead of rushing ahead, close your eyes and picture yourself in September. Who do you want to be? What do you want to feel?

Let your vision be soft, not strict. From this grounded space, you can begin to shape a season that nourishes you—not just your to-do list.

This summer, reset with intention—not intensity. Let the sun and slowness remind you: your life is a garden. You don’t need to overhaul everything. Sometimes, the magic comes from pulling a few weeds and watering the right seeds.

We’d love to hear about your midyear reset! Let us know in the comments.

Until Next Post,

  1. I love this! I think my micro change this week will be getting back into my workout routine by adding 20 min workouts. I’ve created some rituals to cut back on my stress this summer- gardening, making lattes and iced coffees, and lighting summer candles. Envisioning what I want my fall to look like is a great idea.
