In my most recent O magazine issue I was inspired by a quick interview with Danielle Brooks aka Taystee from Orange is the New Black (I can’t wait to binge watch the newest season). She also plays Sophia in the The Color Purple on Broadway. It was a Live Your Best Life series. Since I am all about living your best life I thought it might be nice to recreate my version for the blog.
Best Childhood Memory-During the Cabbage Patch Kid craze in the 80’s, I remember my father and I waiting outside before the break of dawn, with hundreds of other kids at the Base Exchange (military shopping center) for an opportunity to find Cabbage Patch Dolls hidden throughout the store. If you found one you could purchase it. I remember finding two. Sounds super silly and the definitely the epitome of consumerism but to a 9 year old it was exhilarating and I rember thinking my dad was the greatest-he still is.
Best Summer Tradition– My family has gone camping aka Glamping for the last 17 years. My kids love it! We visit the same campground ever year and stay in a cabin. Our campground has mini golf, a pool, a game room and a country store with the biggest scoops of yummy ice-cream. Even though they are grown up now they still love it as much as they did when they were kids.
Best Late Night Snack-I am not a big late night snacker but I do like Angie’s BOOM CHICKA POP popcorn. The Sweet and Salty is my favorite!
Best Way To Unwind-Oh let me count the ways… I love a good book and a glass of wine, a good yoga or spin class, a Netflix comedy or binge watching a series! I could go on and on.. I am pretty good at unwinding.
Best Karaoke Song-Push it by Salt and Pepa! It’s the sassiest and you don’t really need to have a great voice to make it work. All you need is lots of enthusiasm!
Best Words of Wisdom-Put your own mask on first! My Single Mom Chic Motto~You have to be the best YOU so that you can be the best mother, daughter, friend, wife or lover….
I’d love to hear about your best life! What’s your best childhood memory or your best words of wisdom?
