How to Slay Everyday in 5 Easy Steps



Queen B’s newest song Formation generated a lot of press after her Superbowl performance. Some loved it, others hated it, but whether or not you are a Yonce fan, you can’t deny that she was true to her lyrics… she Slayed…aka killed it …aka looked amazing.

So how can we Slay daily, and not just on the weekends when we have a sitter? How can we look and feel amazing everyday? If you have read any other post I have written you know that I am all about confidence. I truly believe that liking yourself is key to just about everything and that includes Slaying.

We all know women who are not necessarily conventionally beautiful but they are so self-assured that we can’t take our eyes off of them. What’s their secret? You guessed it… confidence. But confidence is an action word. I believe it is a talent that we can all learn. Sure some of us seem to be born with more than others but just like any other talent it needs to be cultivated so that we can become really good at it.

Here are five things you can do to Slay Everyday:

Focus on effort not comparison– nobody wakes up like that-sorry Queen B, but the truth is even you have to work at it. It is easy to compare yourself to others and get easily dissuaded. We all know those women who always look perfect, but the truth is they aren’t! They are just putting a lot of effort into looking the way they do. You may not want to invest the time and effort into looking like an instagram model and I wouldn’t recommend that, but stop putting yourself down by comparing your looks and life to others and put the effort into making yourself feel and look good everyday.

Remember that charisma is key-beauty is relative but charisma wins every time. We are attracted to people who are charismatic, positive and upbeat. The cranky French Chic stereotype doesn’t win here. Let your guard down and laugh a little, be present and engaged and resist the urge to put yourself down or launch into a tirade about everything that is wrong with your life. Focus on the positives.

Invest in yourself-find time to pamper yourself even if it is just a little. Get a new haircut, a Mani Pedi, take the yoga class or buy the shoes! You don’t have to go to extremes just do something that improves your look and lifts your spirits.

Be passionate-passion is attractive. People who are ho hum and just slog along aren’t the ones we want to spend time with. We want to be around people who are passionate. Find something that you love doing and share that excitement with others.

And last but not least…

Splurge (just a little) on matching underwear! It may sound silly but I promise it works. There is something about putting on pretty undies everyday that just makes you feel good. And while it may be that no one ever sees it but you, it still gives you a powerful pep in your step!
