How to Make Your Bedtime Routine Feel Luxurious

Recently I set a goal to turn my bedtime routine into something that I actually look forward to every night, instead of seeing it as one last obstacle before I can fall into bed exhausted. I started with refreshing my pajama drawer and I’m treating myself to my dream robe for Mother’s Day. But I’m also trying to incorporate some new habits, and I’ve been researching simple ways to upgrade a bedtime routine. We spend a third of our lives in bed, and our bedtime routine can set the stage for how restful our night is (and how we feel when we wake up and have to tackle a new day). So I’ve curated 5 simple steps for making your bedtime routine feel luxurious:

Step 1- Curate your space and set the mood.

Invest in soft, breathable sheets (Egyptian cotton, linen, or bamboo blends are great options), a plush duvet or cozy comforter, and supportive pillows. Use a silk or bamboo pillowcase for a touch of elegance and skin benefits. Design your nightstand to feel like a curated moment. Keep a carafe of water, a small dish for jewelry, and your current book or journal. Having everything within reach helps maintain the calm and keeps the space intentional. Spray a calming lavender or sandalwood linen mist on your pillow. Turn off any harsh overhead lights and use a table lamp with a dimmer, light a candle or use a candle warmer with a timer.

Step 2- Upgrade your skincare routine.

After a warm bath or shower, turn your skincare routine into a ritual. Put on some soothing music. Instead of rushing through products, really take your time and create a calming skincare sequence.

Step 3- Layer in Comfort.

Upgrade your loungewear to something you actually want to wear—soft, breathable, and beautiful. Then take it a step further: a cozy or silky robe, maybe even a silk eye mask. It’s not indulgent; it’s intentional. When you feel good, you sleep better.

Step 4- Sip a Signature Drink.

Select a signature bedtime drink that you prepare every night to unwind. An herbal tea is a great option. I love chamomile lavender tea with a little milk and honey before bed. If you really want to get fancy, try a mixed drink like moon milk or the viral sleepy girl mocktail.

Step 5- Create a Bedside Ritual.

Finish your evening with something grounding. Write in a gratitude journal, read a book, or do some gentle stretching or meditation.

Your bedtime routine is the final chapter of your day—make it beautiful. When your evening routine becomes a ritual of self-care, you create a space where you feel cherished, calm, and ready for deep rest. You deserve to end every day with softness, intention, and a little touch of indulgence.

  1. I had to learn the hard way of having no screens in the bedroom. at any time, just not at night. I don’t use my phone, i don’t watch tv, it’s helped tremendously

    1. That’s amazing. I try to limit my screen time around bedtime but making your bedroom a screen free zone all the times is such a great way to set boundaries and clear your mind. I’ll have to try that!
