I don’t know about you but for me this year seems to be moving at light speed. I can’t believe we are smack dab in the middle of fall with 2017 right on the horizon. It has been a whirlwind of a year for me. I have had some amazing things happen like my daughter’s marriage and the sweet baby that is now on the way for the happy couple, and some not so amazing things happen like my dad’s pancreatic cancer coming back like a thief in the night.
In the midst of it all I have tried to maintain a sense of gratitude. One of the things I am always grateful for is the knowing that my favorite season is upon us. I have to admit that my younger self loved summer. Its carefree beach vibe always appealed to me, but as I have gotten older I have come to appreciate the season changing into fall. I like the beauty of the foliage and the structure of the schedule that comes along with my new favorite season. I also have a penchant for pretty much everything pumpkin, so that helps.
Because things have been so hurried lately I haven’t taken the time to enjoy it as much I usually do. Falling back for daylight saving time is like the courtesy mom warning that we only have a little more time left to play before we pack up our things. So, I decided it might be a good idea to make a list of some things I want to do before Old Man Winter rears his head.
I even did some research on fun things to do and there were all kinds of things listed like Leaf Peeping (not even sure what that is but it sounds odd) to renting a cabin in the mountains which sounds amazing, but I probably won’t do that with only a month or so to go so I decided to make my own simple list.
Here a few things I’d like to do this fall:
Go on a hike and take in the foilage
Collect pine cones to put into glass bowls
Attend a Brew Fest-most people are surprised to learn I love craft beers as much as I love wine. Well almost…
Pull out my favorite boots-goodbye 80 degree temps
Go apple picking
Bake an apple pie with some of those apples-still working on my baking skills *le sigh
Make S’mores-I’m pretty good at this!
Drink wine around a fire pit-gotta love fire pit talks!
Prepare my Thanksgiving menu-it’s my favorite holiday.
Make candy apples-or at least eat one.
Work on my Christmas gift list-can you tell I make a lot of lists?
I’m sure I could add more fun fall things but if you love fall as much as I do I’d love to hear about some of things you have planned for our favorite season!
Until Next Post,
