So, I had every intention of doing a post on Trunk Club. I just started this clothing subscription service to update my spring/summer capsule wardrobe and I wanted to tell you all about it, but this has been a challenging week and so I have decided to talk about what I actually need right now. An opportunity to recharge and refresh. When I say its been challenging I mean busy and a little draining but not in a bad way. As many of you know from my What I Wore to a Very Special Brunch Wedding Post my beautiful firstborn got married last weekend. What I failed to mention in that post is that she actually had two weddings. Yep, you read that right. Not one but two.
My daughter married her college sweetheart and while his family has called New York home for over 20 years they originally hail from Nigeria so she she had a traditional Nigerian ceremony the night before the American ceremony. I don’t need to tell anyone who has ever been a bride, a mother of a bride or somehow remotely involved in planning a wedding how busy last weekend was. Whew! Even very beautiful things can drain you.
So, I returned to work and my normal busy life. I had everything from a dinner at a nearby country club to golf lessons lined up after work. By the time I got to Friday I felt like I had just run a marathon. Whew! I also felt off kilter and knew that I needed to find a way to refresh and renew.
So here are three things I did to help me renew and refresh.
- Relax-we had another event planned for Friday night but we decided we needed to shut down a bit. Sometimes you just have to say no and realize that Netflix and Chill is a good thing. A glass of wine and the latest copy of Harpers Bazaar got me right where I needed to be.
- Retreat-I decided that my energizer batteries did indeed need recharging and a good nights sleep was exactly what the doctor ordered. Don’t look at the clock listen to your body. Sometimes being in bed God awful early is just what you need to refresh.
- Relaunch-I didn’t want to get too comfy in my recharge state so I decided it was time to refresh. I hit up a power yoga class where the instructor kindly handed me my butt on a platter and then decided I needed a little more, as I had skipped my workouts all week, and headed to an indoor cycling class. I left the gym soaked like I had jut come from the pool but I felt like the old me again!
Sometimes in order to get back to the real you, you must relax, retreat and then relaunch!
What do you do when you know you need to get your mind and body back on track?
Until Next Post,
