Style Inspo: Anna from His and Hers

Last year, How to Dress Like was one of my favorite style series here at The Real Chic Life. We covered outfit inspiration as well as where to shop some of the exact pieces that were worn by our favorite tv characters- like Joanne from Nobody Wants This, Jax Stewart from Reasonable Doubt, Lisa Todd Wexley from And Just Like That and Sofia Falcone from the Penguin. This year we’re continuing the series with new style inspiration and kicking things off with a show I just binge watched- Netflix’s His and Hers.

If you haven’t seen the show I won’t spoil it for you, but it’s a psychological thriller that follows a troubled journalist named Anna (played by Tessa Thompson) and her estranged husband (a small-town detective played by Jon Bernthal) who are drawn back together when a murder happens in their hometown. They investigate the case from opposite sides-one through reporting, the other through law enforcement, and buried secrets begin to surface. I love a good mystery, but I couldn’t help being captivated by Anna’s wardrobe on the show as well. Every look felt intentional. Her style mirrors her character- thoughtful, observant, and quietly confident. If you’re drawn to clothes that feel smart, modern, and wearable without trying too hard, Anna’s aesthetic is one worth borrowing. Here’s how to channel her look in real life.

Anna’s camera ready work style uses bold colors for modern monochromatic looks. She relies heavily on luxe materials like silk and leather, and isn’t afraid of combining color with an edgy print. Her Dries Van Noten snake print trench coat is softened by the classic cut of a Vince green silk blouse.

You can channel this look by combining a boldly printed jacket like the Ann Taylor cropped snake print trench with a silk shirt in a similar hue.

Anna also keeps her anchor looks fresh and modern with trendy (and ironically vintage style) statement earrings. Statement earrings are an easy way to add polish to any look.

Anna’s blue Burberry coat and vintage print blouse were complemented by a pair of gold Heaven Mayhem wind earrings that are currently available at Revolve. They also come in silver.

Anna’s off-duty style showcased relaxed, classic pieces and effortless high-low dressing. This (sold out) Zara trench coat was paired with a Chanel Executive tote and a Khaite Axel belt. Underneath she wore an &Daughter argyle crewneck sweater (currently sold out but a similar colorway is available.)

You can get a similar look by swapping out the belt on a relaxed trench coat like this coat from Uniqlo, for a statement belt. Add an argyle print sweater for a modern preppy look.

Anna’s effortless combination of classic and modern was also on display with this outfit featuring a sold-out faux leather peplum jacket by Marie Oliver and a classic red crewneck from &Daughter.

This combo is proof that similar shades can pair beautifully together. To achieve the look try a Quince cashmere crewneck sweater with a cropped burgundy trench by Naked Wardrobe.

Dressing like Anna from His and Hers is about creating bold monochromatic styles with luxe materials, pairing classic silhouettes with on-trend statement earrings and belts, and leaning into color and prints. The result is a wardrobe that feels intelligent, timeless, and quietly powerful.
