You’ve probably heard me talk about curating a wardrobe before. And perhaps you were curious about what that means to me. To ensure you’re always well dressed, choose fewer high-quality pieces you can mix and match in your wardrobe rather than a ton of low-quality, trendy pieces purchased on impulse. And more importantly, you should feel as good as you look.
Petite Studio is a brand I’d heard a bit of buzz about. They launched in 2016 and they’re based in the heart of NYC (Soho). Petite Studio is consistently ranked as a top sustainable indie brand for petite women by top fashion insiders. They’re a slow fashion brand curating collections with luxury fabrics and unique designs.
One thing that piqued my interest (besides the high quality) is that I’d recently concluded that I was tired of paying an arm and a leg for tailoring. A few weeks ago, I told Courtney that I was committed to passing on some items that would require it in the future. And I was leaning away from brands that weren’t inclusive- meaning they don’t offer petites. I’m not talking about special occasion wear. Tailoring there is a given, but I would like my staples- pants, jackets, and skirts to fit well right off the rack. Petite options are a must to achieve that goal at a mere 5’2 and a half. So I was already looking for brands that carry high-quality petites when I was introduced to Petite Studio. I went down a rabbit hole- reading reviews and scouring their site to see if they’d be a good fit for The Real Chic Life. Spoiler alert they were.

The first look I selected from their spring lookbook was the Cindy Cotton Cardigan in Navy– it’s a current take on the classic lady jacket and I love how the gold buttons elevate the look. I selected the cardigan in a size small and paired it with their Nadine Skirt (also size small) in gray for a gorgeous day-to-evening look. Each of these high-quality, on-trend pieces will pair easily with items already in my closet.

I also tried their Reign Wool pants in Brownstone (see them in oatmeal too). I selected these in a medium size and paired them with the Bridget Vest (size small). The pants are extremely high- quality and the classic, beautiful brown color will make them relevant season after season. I love that the Denim Bridget Vest in Ivory will flow from spring right into summer. I could wear it with shorts and skirts too. Here it is in traditional denim.

Finally, I chose the Buvette Pearl Blouse and Pippa Denim skirt. I wasn’t sure about sizing on the denim skirt because most premium denim doesn’t have much stretch and I’m not only dressing a petite figure, but a curvy one too. I chose medium even though I typically wear a small in skirts. It was definitely the quality I was expecting, but without the stretch it was still a little snug. I think this piece is a gorgeous wardrobe staple but if you’re curvy be sure to size up.
The Buvette Pearl Blouse in Ivory has a beautiful gold statement pearl on top. I plan to get a lot of wear out of this one as a beautiful white blouse is a definite staple (it comes in a beautiful Navy and dusty blue too). The hardware makes it feel elevated and high-end.

I also think these Romi Pants would be a great wardrobe staple addition too. And this gorgeous red floral Carly Dress is on my wishlist.
If you’re petite like I am (you probably are if you’ve read this far) I can’t recommend Petite Studio enough. I love the owner Jenny Wang-Howell’s mission. Here’s what she had to say about creating Petie Studio- “ I knew that the lack of stylish petite clothing in the market was a problem. I wanted to offer luxury fabrics and special designs and do it in the heart of the fashion world in New York City. In 2015 I set out to build the brand that I always wanted as a wannabe 5’2″ fashionista.”
If you’ve tried Petite Studio I’d love to hear your thoughts too. Let us know in the comments.
Until next post,
