Fall is not only a time for me to swap out my closets ( I have a pretty small walk-in and often pack things away at the end of the season). It’s also time for me to switch up my beauty routine. While there’s no need to pack or unpack because I have plenty of vanity space, I still look forward to embracing my new fall beauty look. This fall, beauty trends are focused on rich textures, bold accents, and a return to natural elegance. This trend couldn’t be more up my alley. My beauty look aspiration is always a nod to simple classic elements with a bold accent. Today I’m highlighting some of my favorite Merit Beauty selections to coincide with each trend. But feel free to swap in your favorite brands to achieve the same key look.
1. Warm, Earthy Tones: Think rich browns, terracotta, and deep burnt oranges for eyeshadows, blush and lip colors. These shades complement the fall season and bring warmth to makeup looks. I’m pretty obsessed with the Merit Flush Balms. They offer a great dewy, yet pigmented look. Mood and Bespoke are the perfect warm earthy tones. This new mini flush balm trio contains those two and a pretty pink shade that gives you a natural flush in Stockholm.
2. Bold, Statement Lips: Deep reds, burgundies, and even plum shades are popular this season. A matte finish is classic, but glossy, bold lips are also trending for a more modern take. My color this fall is burgundy, but I’ll always love a deep red. Right now I am loving this limited edition set from Merit: The Dress Code Set- with Bespoke, Black Tie, and Du Jour.
3. Glowing, Dewy Skin: Natural, radiant skin is still in focus. Lightweight foundations and highlighters that give a dewy, fresh look are key to achieving a glowing complexion. The Complexion Set has everything you need for gorgeous glowing skin but if you want to start small I’d suggest their new Great Skin Priming Moisturizer or their Day Glow– my absolute favorite highlighter.
4. Soft Smudged Liner: Instead of a sharp, defined wing, many are opting for a smudged, smoky liner look, giving a softer yet dramatic effect around the eyes. I like to use a shadow for this and Merit’s Solo Shadow in Brun works perfectly for me.
5. Sculpted Brows: Full, natural brows are being enhanced with minimal product to keep them looking groomed yet not overly defined. Brow gels or light brow pencils help achieve this. I love Merit’s Brow 1990 Sheer Gel Pencil.
6. Monochromatic Makeup: Using the same tone for eyes, lips, and cheeks creates a cohesive and stylish look. Merit has several sets where you can select similar shades for your look- here is the Autumn Set.
7. Rich, Moody Nails: Fall nail colors are moving towards dark, moody shades like forest green, burgundy, and dark navy. A matte or satin finish elevates the luxury feel. These shades are perfect for your next mani-pedi. Merit doesn’t have nail polish (yet). Though they are releasing a signature fragrance soon. However, OPI’s Oh, Yes, My Condor Can Do is a plum brown that works with every skin tone and would look lovely with their berry brown L’Avenue Signature lip. If your bold fall lip is red then OPI’s cult favorite Big Apple Red is a classic match. I’m wearing this shade right now.
I love that these trends mix the cozy vibes of fall with bold, confident beauty statements. I’d also like to hear what your fall beauty picks are. Leave your recommendations in the comments below too.
Until Next Post,
