I think we can all agree that this fall is slightly different than the falls of years past. Actually I am probably being a little too conservative- it’s dramatically different for most of us. But regardless of what your personal or state’s stance is right now, nature stops for no one. Fall is coming- it may actually already be here if your temps fall in line with the calendar’s first day of fall declaration. Where I live we often have a false fall meaning that temps drop and then suddenly rebound in a kind of back and forth pendulum swing, before comfortably settling into fall. Sometimes it skips right past that settling point and lands smack dab in the middle of winter. So this year my fall picks might be slightly different. Do you need boots and hats? Maybe, but for many of us who are not going out quite as much as we did in the falls of past then they may be more fashion than function. I am going to save those for Winter when I believe that they will hit the target on both purposes. 

Here a few things I think are great right now:

Mask Chains- I received a couple of mask chains from my friends over at Chico’s and I have to say I am obsessed with them. I have already gifted them to a couple of family members and friends. Not only are they gorgeous and add a little sass and pizazz, but they are functional too. I don’t have to wear a mask as a chin strap when it’s not in use or dig around in my bag looking for it. I love that it’s always right there when I need it and it looks pretty great hanging there too. If you have invested in cute decorative masks then take the next step and get one of these cute chains. Statement earrings- A lot of us are still using ZOOM. My husband has a call or two every single day and I have a couple a week. We even have an upcoming family ZOOM birthday party- yep we are still doing that and I know a lot of you are too. Honestly, I think online conferencing will continue moving forward. It is a great inexpensive way to bring people together and while face to face will resume one day I think ZOOM will continue to be a part of our new normal too. So with that being said it is no big surprise that statement earrings would be trending right now. Statement earrings highlight our faces and accessorize our looks, and now that we mostly see people from the bodice up we really want to draw that attention up. I’ve linked some here.

Statement bags- I have always believed that bags and shoes are where you should invest. Meaning that you should buy quality over quantity and buy at the top of your budget for those items because they will last forever. But right now I think we all need to have a little fun and give ourselves a little something to smile about. With the economy being a little shaky right now it may not be time to invest in luxury goods anyway and most of us aren’t wearing heels enough to justify that purchase. I keep getting emails from designer labels promoting their latest tennis shoe- they get it, and we know it. But a fun handbag or clutch at a mid to low range price point elevates even a casual look and you don’t have to worry about foot pain the way you might with a lower quality shoe. I shared a cute camo clutch in my last post but this little metallic crossbody is super cute too (see it here).

The Trench- This one is a no brainer for me. While out running those errands outerwear is a way to instantly look chic. I love the idea of something lighter because if you’re like me you are in and out of stores pretty quickly and a fancy coat feels a little silly for me right now, but a trench is effortlessly sleek and you can throw it over those leggings you love to instantly elevate your look.
