Whew….It’s been a rough few months friends. I feel like we’ve been tested, tried, and stretched in some of the most life changing ways. I’m committed to doubling down on those things that are meaningful to me and happy to let go of others that aren’t. I’ll share more about that in an upcoming post, but as an optimist I’m also looking forward to embracing the things that I know I love. Summer fashion is one of those things. And while summer is upon us, to be perfectly honest I’m not sure what my summer plans will look like. I’m usually the type of person who has our vacations mapped out and my travel capsule wardrobe already picked out and in my travel bag. But times are different and uncertainty abounds.
One thing that is certain is that warm weather is here. I think most of us could use a little sun in our lives right now, so I’m welcoming the warmer temps with open arms. And as things start to open up a bit, I’m sharing three pieces that represent the summer trends but are also wardrobe staples (you know I’m a staples girl).
These items will work with my current wardrobe whether we do decide to take a summer vacation or not. Even if my summer simply consists of enjoying a few socially distanced patio lunches, brunches or dinners these staples will work. And I believe that all three will fit seamlessly into your current wardrobe and upgrade your summer looks too. So here it goes….
A Linen shirt– A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with linen. They either love it for its easy breezy summer feel or they can’t take the wrinkles. I do personally love linen, but yes I will admit that wrinkles are often synonymous with this summer favorite fabric. This top pictured above though is the best of both worlds. It’s no-iron and after having it for two weeks I’ve already worn it a couple of times. See it here. It literally goes with everything and it does not wrinkle the way traditional linen does.
Linen tees are great too and also at the top of the little to no-wrinkle spectrum. I have three and love the colors and the double v-neck cut on these right here.
Bermuda shorts– I have to admit I love the nostalgic feel of Bermudas! The wide legged versions give you all the practicality of shorts and a little of the femininity of a skirt. If I had to sum up my personal classic style in two words-feminine and practical might just do it. I purchased these shorts (here) and the matching blazer/jacket so that I could mix and match it or wear it as a suit. Though I probably won’t have much use for the blazer this summer it’s sure to be a favorite for years to come. See it here.
A light brown sandal- For some reason this warm colored sandal represents summer for me. I actually have several pairs in this shade. But I’m sharing my newest and most favorite pair.
- The Oasis Sandal-these are an investment piece for sure but they’re iconic and I plan to have them for years. If you’re a fan of the original Hermès Oran Sandal these are just as versatile but a little dressier. I find that they compliment a casual or dressier look equally well-*the brown is sold out right now but I’m sure they’ll restock soon. (see them here). If you’re looking for a good dupe (more economical pair) check out these from Sam Edelman (here).
Those are the three items I’d add right now. I’d love to hear what pieces if any you’ve added to your summer wardrobe that might be considered staples too.
Until Next Post,
Xo Tonya Parker
You’re always so beautiful and put together. My summer staple is white cropped jeans because I can wear with heels, wedges, sandals, etc and I can dress up or down. P.S. I bought the NYDJ ones you shared a few weeks ago. 🙂
