I have been a huge capsule wardrobe fan for years. I actually dedicated almost a whole chapter in my book to this idea of making dressing easier and more affordable and I’ve written posts on this topic before. It’s a surefire way to always look chic and I loved sharing this minimalist way of managing your closet and your look. If I could give one tip on always looking your best this would be it. Build a capsule wardrobe-even if you do it slowly by investing in a few quality pieces that are interchangeable.
Over the years it has become more common for fashion bloggers to tote the benefits of a capsule wardrobe, but my approach started years ago as a practical way to always look put together. So when Chico’s reached out about a collaboration on their new capsule collection (you can see it here) I couldn’t have been more excited! Not only would I be able to share this idea again with my readers in an updated post but I’d be able to make it even easier on them by directing them to the 10 pieces that they can use to create an entire fall capsule wardrobe.
Here are two looks I styled with just one complete outfit from their line.
In look number one I’ve paired the crisp white shirt, the jeggings, and the statement coat for a fun date night look.
And in look two I’ve created a chic casual Friday look or a cozy brunch with girlfriends ensemble by placing this wine colored Mock Neck Sweater over the white shirt and adding boots.
Here are some of my other favorites from the line-The Jean Jacket, The Bateau Neck Sweater, the Ruana Wrap and the Ankle Pant.
And of course Chico’s always has the best statement jewelry! You can see the Multi-Colored Beaded Necklace from the date night and other key pieces here too.
And if you aren’t familiar with my previous posts about why having a capsule wardrobe not only made getting dressed easier for me but actually made other areas in my life more efficient too then you will definitely want to check out my top three real life reasons to consider the capsule wardrobe below.
- You save a tremendous amount of time– Have you ever been late to work or to an event because you couldn’t find anything to wear? If you haven’t you are probably an anomaly. One of the things I hear all the time from my friends is that they have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear. This is often because we shop randomly or buy the latest trend without really putting thought into what you already have in your closet to complete your look. The other reason this happens is because we are holding onto things that no longer fit, are not in good condition or that don’t match our current lifestyle. Investing in interchangeable high quality pieces ensures that you will always be able to quickly put together a look that fits well and is perfect for the season that you’re in both literally and figuratively.
- You save money-while there is an initial investment you definitely save in the long run because you aren’t constantly shopping. You already have your core wardrobe covered so you can switch out accessories and shoes and you’re good to go so to speak. Less time searching the web or roaming the malls means less opportunity for impulse buying and investing in those core pieces means less money spent on trendy pieces that you might only wear once. Even the whole quality over quantity thing doesn’t really work unless we have a plan. A capsule wardrobe ensures that there is intention behind those investment piece you are purchasing.
- You will always look your best-I don’t know about you but I love an effortlessly chic look. I never want to look like I am wearing a costume. I know there are people who love fashion so much that more is more is definitely their mantra and it works for them, but for most of us we just want to look good everyday without having to try too hard. The capsule wardrobe idea ensures that you will always look chic. In my book I shared a story about how a friend looked into my walk in closet and asked me how in the world I always look so put together with so few clothes? She was flabbergasted but remember for many of us it’s a paradigm shift. We don’t need a ton of clothes, we need the right clothes! So if you are ready to embrace the idea of looking effortlessly chic too check out the new collection from Chico’s.
I’d love to hear you thoughts on a capsule wardrobe and these chic fall pieces from Chico’s.

I’m learning from you about creating capsule wardrobes…. I have in the past purchased things I like, thinking about only one or two things it may match in my wardrobe. I love the Chico’s items; they really capture the Fall spirit. And, you look beautiful.

Thank you Annita! I’m so glad to hear that. It usually takes a little time on the front end but after you create a small capsule it makes life so much easier. And now Chico’s has taken all of the guess work out of it by getting us started with the fall transition items already set out for us. We can start there and add a few more items. So genius!
And…thanks for reading and commenting! xo
