If you read my last post A Few Fab Things I did in NYC (see it here) you know that I am a bag lover. I love purses but just like everything else I love, (besides lipstick-see that here) I try not to have too many of them. Having a capsule wardrobe means investing in a few quality pieces. I do the same thing with my handbag collection.
Here are the 7 Chic Bags I always keep in rotation.
The Tote- I absolutely love tote bags. I carry this one by Kate Spade to work. I love that I can throw everything from my agenda (yes, I do still carry an old-school paper planner) to my iPad and everything in between. It also does double duty on long car trips to hold magazines, water bottles, umbrellas, and sweaters.
The Clutch-I love this jeweled Anthropolgie statement clutch. It goes with everything and while I typically choose classic neutral dressy outfits ala Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffanys, this always jazzes things up with a little sparkle.
The Pop of Color Shoulder Baguette-I wear a lot of black (and white). Just take a look at my instagram. So it’s nice to add a chic shoulder baguette in a pop of color. I love these yellow bags from Kate Spade and Banana Republic. The Kate Spade is my go to spring/summer bag and the suede patchwork on the Banana Republic Bag makes it perfect for fall.
The Hobo-I actually received this Furla Bag as a gift. I hadn’t even heard of the brand before receiving it. I love their bags now and this one is one of my favorites. I like that it’s a deep red which I believe is almost a neutral. It fits so much inside, and I love the slouchy look.
The Investment Bag-I love Louis Vuitton and this Speedy is a classic. Some people love shoes (and trust me I like them a whole lot) but it isn’t likely that even the most fab shoe will stand the test of time structurally or stylistically. I hope my future granddaughter loves this bag as much as I do.
The Travel Bag-I purchased this travel bag over ten years ago after falling in love with it at TJ Maxx. This bag has traveled around the globe with me and still looks like I purchased it yesterday. The patent leather and faux fur gives it a glamours feel. It’s had its share of being tossed around by baggage handlers when a plane has been too small for large carry ons. On my daughter’s last trip to Jamaica she borrowed my beloved. The handle was ripped by an aggressive TSA agent and I thought I would have to retire it, but she took it to a leather repair shop and its as good as new.
The Cross Body Bag-I haven’t gotten as much use out of this little Kate Spade bag as I would like. Most of my bags I have had for quite some time but I did purchase this one last year around this time. I think I may have worn it once. It’s a super cute Chanel inspired chain link cross body bag. It would have been perfect for my shopping trip in NYC. Next time NY, next time…
So, those are the 7 bags in my capsule collection. Are you a bag lady like me and if so, what’s your favorite handbag style?
Until Next Post,
