Many of you know that I subscribe to a capsule wardrobe where I have a limited amount of items for each season. I don’t particularly limit it to a certain number but I keep it relatively small. There is a video of my closet which contains my fall/winter wardrobe that I will post below.
I love having a capsule wardrobe because it makes getting ready so much easier. I feel like I always look put together and exert very little effort in doing so. I have posted before about how I’m always asked to help someone shop or someone asks me to shop in my closet. I find this ironic because number one: this would probably be a very disappointing experience, as my closet is not jam packed with clothes like one might imagine and two: I really don’t like to shop. I like the idea of strolling through a nice shopping space and having a coffee or lunch with a friend, but the actual grunt work of scouring racks isn’t really my thing. I like to keep it simple in many areas of my life and this is one of them. So I buy a few items each season. I aim for higher quality in most of my staples so that they last through the frequent wear.
Summer is probably my least likely to add season because my work environment becomes fairly casual and I just loose the cardigans and high heels for most of my spring work dresses. So I have only added 5 items to my summer capsule.
Here are my 5 Summer Wardrobe Additions
Tory Burch Flats-I have a similar high heeled pair of these so I thought a simple metallic sandal would be universal for my summer wardrobe. These also have an adorable confetti insole. They make me smile every time I look down!
Joe’s Jeans-these jeans are actually pretty awesome. They came in my Trunk Club delivery. They are made of a magic fabric that instantly makes everything look better. Seriously! I haven’t worn them yet but I love jeans and try to add a pair each season. These will be perfect for a chic casual dinner and drink look. I will pair it with a tank, open high heeled sandal and statement necklace.
Loft Dress-I actually purchased this halter dress to wear out for my birthday dinner at a waterside restaurant. It is light and airy and has a fun print. I plan to get a lot of wear out this one. I will wear it with flats, heels, or wedges, throw a sweater over it or go bare.
Target Namaste tank-I picked up this cute ode to yoga tank on a whim at Target. It works as the perfect swimsuit coverup. I wanted to add a sarong or indian print coverup to my wardrobe this year but since I am going to spend more time at our community pool than at a fancy Caribbean resort I opted for a cute T. It drapes beautifully and has slits up each side that make it flirty but still casual enough for the kiddie pool.
Hinge Jacket-I picked up this Army green jacket at Nordstrom. It looks great with jeans, skirts, shorts and dresses. I can throw it into my bag and pull it out in a chilly movie theater or restaurant. It serves the same purpose as a sweater but it looks a little cooler. I am actually using it right now to keep myself warm on my train ride to NY.
So that is it for my summer wardrobe adds. How do you structure your wardrobe? I’d love to hear about it.
