My husband George and I just got back from St. Maarten and were pleasantly surprised to find that the warm weather here felt almost identical to what we had been enjoying in the Caribbean. Of course, judging by the upcoming dip in temperatures, it appears we may have experienced a classic false spring. Still, it was a lovely reminder that the real thing is just around the corner.
There is something about spring that makes us crave a reset. As our days get lighter and longer the routines that carried us through winter feel ready for a refresh.
A spring reset does not have to be dramatic. In fact, the most lasting changes often come from small, thoughtful shifts. A few adjustments to your environment, your habits, and your mindset can create a surprising amount of momentum.
Think of it less as reinventing your life and more as gently opening a window.
Here are ten simple ways to refresh your life this season.
1. Declutter One Small Area
While I am a fan of the idea of spring cleaning, it can feel overwhelming if you think about your entire home at once. Instead, choose one small space. A drawer, your nightstand, your handbag, or even the apps on your phone.
Clearing even a tiny corner creates a sense of calm and control that often spreads into other areas of life.
2. Edit Your Closet
You do not need a completely new wardrobe for spring. Instead, take a quiet hour to edit what you already own. Courtney’s post (What You Actually Need for the Winter-to -Spring transition) is a great reminder to use what you have.
Store heavy winter pieces, rediscover lighter fabrics, and pull forward the items that make you feel polished and comfortable. Often the best spring wardrobe is simply a thoughtful reintroduction to pieces you already love.
3. Let Go of One Thing That No Longer Fits
Spring is a natural time for release. This could be a commitment that drains your energy, a habit that no longer serves you, or even a mindset you have outgrown.
Growth often requires a little space.
4. Get Outside More Often
Longer days invite us back outdoors. A short walk after dinner, a weekend visit to a park, or simply sitting outside with your morning coffee can do wonders for your mood and clarity.
I’m looking forward to my evening dog walks. Fresh air has a way of resetting the mind.
5. Lighten Your Schedule
Just as we lighten our wardrobes in spring, it can help to lighten our calendars as well.
Take a look at your upcoming commitments and ask yourself if they still align with how you want to spend your time. Creating even a little breathing room can make your days feel far more enjoyable.
6. Revisit Your Goals
The beginning of the year often comes with a rush of resolutions. By spring, it is a good time to revisit them with fresh eyes.
Ask yourself what still feels meaningful and what can be adjusted. Progress is rarely a straight line, and a mid season reset can help you refocus.
7. Bring a Little Beauty Into Your Space
A small bouquet of flowers, a freshly made bed, or opening the windows on a sunny afternoon can instantly change the feeling of your home.
Beauty does not need to be elaborate to be effective. Often it is the simplest details that elevate everyday life.
8. Refresh Your Mindset
Spring reminds us that life naturally moves in seasons. What felt heavy in winter does not have to follow you into the months ahead.
Give yourself permission to begin again. Sometimes a fresh perspective is the most powerful reset of all.
9. Start Something Small and New
Spring is the perfect time to begin something that brings you joy. A new book, a creative hobby, a simple fitness routine, or even a weekly ritual you look forward to.
It does not have to be big. It simply has to feel good.
A spring reset is not about perfection. It is about realigning with the version of your life that feels lighter, calmer, and more intentional.
And often, the smallest changes are the ones that create the most beautiful shifts.
We’d love to hear what changes you’re making this spring. Let us know in the comments.
