My Travel Style With Chico’s

If you’re anything like me as soon as the holidays are over you’re already thinking about warmer weather. And if you live in an area with four seasons like I do you realize that might actually take a while to become a reality.

Fortunately we’ve had a couple of surprisingly warmer days this month and I’ve loved every minute of them. Those warmer days have me looking forward to our Spring Break trip. Our favorite destination is always a beach resort. For some reason I’ve always felt most at home near water, so it’s definitely our go-to.

When thinking about planning travel looks I like picking items that I can mix and match. Luckily for me one of my favorites stores- Chico’s always has me covered.

Here’s my formula for selecting my travel looks.

  1. Start with a color scheme- I love color, especially for spring and summer, so I always select a color palette. I love the beautiful pastels that you will see a lot of in stores starting now. Chico’s has the prettiest spring solids and prints. Selecting a color scheme helps me streamline my packing and ensures that I’m consistently pleased with each travel look. One of my favorite colors this season is the violet ice featured in my jacket here. Speaking of jackets, that brings me to my next travel look tip.

  2. Pick your basics- tees, capris, and light jackets are all great beach resort staples. I love to keep these pretty neutral so that I can mix and match them. In the look above I chose a navy tee, the no-stain white capris and a solid pretty spring hue for the twill jacket. After you have your basics covered it’s time for a little fun…also known as tip three here.
  3. Select a star item (or two)-I love to pick something in a beautiful bold print or pattern that stands out. The Medallion Print Poncho definitely fits the bill. This can be dressed up for a dinner look with the capris and wedges or dressy sandals or dressed down with flip flops or Birkenstock’s and of course it makes a beautiful beach coverup- no shoes required at all. After you’ve selected your supporting cast (the basics) and your star you need a few extras. Let’s move on to tip four.

  4. Choose your accessories- travel accessories not only elevate your look but they’re the glue between fashion and function. A beach hat, sunglasses, and even a great belt can help you change up your look, and of course hats and sunglasses are always needed to protect you from the sun on your trip. Some of my favorites are the Neutral Straw Hat, the Faux Tortoise Shell Round Sunglasses, the Loop Buckle Belt and the Striped Boarder Square Neckerchief.  All of these helped me complete my travel look and you can shop them here.

I’m looking forward to our next trip, which will be here before we know it. If you’re heading to the beach this winter or spring I hope my tips for creating a beach resort travel look will help you prepare.

I’d also love to hear about your favorite warm weather destination and hear about any packing tips you might have too!

Until Next Post,
